Summary

Studies were carried out in 2001. The vulnerability of new garden chrysanthemum (garden--mums) cultivars to damage caused by lygus bugs was investigated. The percentage of damaged leaves and inflorescences was evaluated. Among the caught lygus bugs, the most numerous one was Lygus rugulipennis. Late chrysanthemum cultivars were the most vulnerable to damage caused by lygus bugs; the early cultivars showed the least damage. The cultivar ‘Frolic’ had 48.2% of damaged leaves and 72.0% of damaged inflorescences.
